California state co-coordinators

Draft Jim DeMint is proud to announce the co-coordinators for the great state of California – Angela Toft and Baron T. Willis.

Angela and Baron have been actively working throughout California to develop a grassroots coalition of GOP activities, TEA Party organizers and local Republican candidates. The pair recently formed the Facebook group “Conservatives for Jim DeMint President 2012” to bring together DeMint supporters and build support for his candidacy in 2012. With its membership approaching 300, the group’s base continues to  grow by the day.

We are excited to have them aboard and the skills and resources they bring. As state co-coordinators for Draft Jim DeMint, Angela and Baron will lead efforts in “The Golden State” to recruit supporters and activists who believe America needs Jim DeMint in 2012.

Jeb Bush is out

According to an article posted by the Wall Street Journal,

Bush apparently sought to quiet the murmurs today, telling a Kentucky TV reporter that he isn’t running.

We’ve been hearing this same line from the former conservative Florida governor for months, but most will finally take it to heart. With Jeb in, the primary race could have been turned upside down, as he would have most likely taken Florida in a walk. Now, Florida becomes perhaps the defining state before Super Tuesday.

We suspect the battle developing in the Sunshine state will be between a Bush supported conservative and a Crist supported moderate.

The question is now, who will win Jeb’s favor?

Pawlenty is just about in

Not to any real surprise, but Tim Pawlenty is most certainly considering a run at 1600 Pennslyvaina Ave. According to an interview on TheHill.com, he intends to reach a decision sometime after the first of the year.

“I’m going to make a decision about my future both professionally and personally and politically in early 2011, some time after the first of the year.”

To us that means stay tuned.

Gov. Pawlenty is a good guy, but he’s no Jim DeMint. With Pawlenty in the race look for moderate and those slightly to the right to favor his candidacy. He could give Mitt Romney a run for his money in the Midwest and could be fierce competition in the Northeast.

As far as the South, well that’s still DeMint country. Can’t see Pawlenty making too many in roads down here.

We need your talents!!

Are you a skilled artist? Web designer? Writer? Bullhorn operator? If so we could use your help. Our goal over the next 100 days (before election day) is to create a working grassroots organization with chapters in every state. In the next few weeks we will begin rolling out our state coordinators. These individuals will be responsible for coordinating our Draft Jim DeMint operations for each state. If you’re interested please contact us immediately (draftjimdemint@gmail.com).

Don’t have time to coordinate an entire state?  How about serving as a regional or local coordinator? We know you’re busy, hey, we’re busy too! That’s why we will take any level of commitment you can afford. Even if it’s just evenings or weekends (or less than that). Besides, the greatest help you can provide in these early days is to just tell a friend. Tweet your support, Facebook it, or even blog about us. We’ll take it all. The point is, the more people know about us, the larger the impact we will have on Jim and the nation.

As always, if you can make a small financial contribution to our cause, we’d much appreciate it.

Building momentum

Our Draft Jim DeMint movement is gaining momentum. Our website has seen an increase of over 700% in daily traffic, our Twitter followers count is exploding and the Facebook page continues to grow. But we need more.

We need firm and soft commitments from local elected officials, community leaders and you. Please contact us today if you would like to volunteer as a state, regional or local organizer. Our goal is to have grassroots organizations in every state by election day.

Also, we want to begin having a presence at local GOP, conservative or TEA Party meetings, events, rallies and political festivals. We will be setting up a calendar of events that we hope to attend in early primary states. If you know of any event, meeting or rally please let us know.

As always, in order for us to be an effective organization donations are needed. If your able, please support our effort with a small donation today.

Thanks for your continued support.

Call to Action

We realize most of you are focused on the upcoming 2010 election in November. As long as the train stays on the tracks we (conservatives) are looking at a really good year. We have a chance to take back the House and just about split the Senate.

Knowing that you all are (and so are we) working tirelessly to elect conservatives in November, we ask that you keep one eye on 2012. Come January it will be decision time for many 2012 hopefuls. To run or to sit, that will be the question. There is one person, however, we hope and pray will run – Jim DeMint of South Carolina.

I won’t go into a long statement about why America needs Jim DeMint, but we will say this – now is the time to plan for tomorrow. Jim is going to need a dedicated group of volunteers who are ready to go day one. Through this site (and our Twitter and Facebook pages) we hope to create a network of dedicated volunteers excited and ready to elect Jim DeMint for President. Through our effort we can show Jim the volume of commitment Americans across the nation have for his candidacy, which should persuade him to run.

We ask you this day to stand with us and with America, and support Draft Jim DeMint for President. Here are five things you can do today to help our effort:

  1. Sign-up for our newsletter.
  2. Follow us on Twitter.
  3. “Like” our fan page on Facebook.
  4. Volunteer as a state, regional, or local organizer.
  5. Donate to Draft Jim DeMint to help support this site and our other actions.

Thank you,

Draft Jim DeMint
